Firefly Creek


Firefly Creek is a region in the Wallanbah district in Gloucester Shire in New South Wales. A small town called Firefly also exists in the area. References to Firefly Creek proliferate in the newspapers of 1870. In the early part of that decade a land offering was made in the area, GLOUCESTER 8 country lots, 1 of 50 and the others of 40 acres, on Firefly Creek. Source: The Maitland Mercury and Hunter River General Advertiser 17 Jul 1873 Later in that decade, a significant gold mining reef was found in the area, A splendid new reef has been found near Buyah Station, Firefly Creek, 10 miles from Coolongolook.
