Meny Byres, a twin to Jane, was born on 19 September and baptised on 18 October 1840 in Ecclesmachan, West Lothian, Scotland. 1 Meny would also be known as Wilhelmina Dodds Byers.

Wilhelmina Dodds Byres married John Sunderland snr on 22 March 1866 in St Pauls Church of England in Kyneton, Victoria. 2 John was born in 1837 in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire, England, the brother of William Sunderland who had married his wife's sister Jane. 3

  5. Mabel Mary SUNDERLAND (c1875-1966) married her first cousin, Simon Alexander FRASER (c1883-1942) in 1923
  6. Charles Rupert SUNDERLAND (c1877-1933) married Margaret BRENION (1872-1930) in 1899
  7. Wilhelmina Jane SUNDERLAND (c1878-1961) married Albert James Joseph SMITH (c1880-c1965) in 1906
  8. John SUNDERLAND jnr (c1879-1964) married Harriett Margaret Cummings MUNTZ (c1887-c1971) in 1908
  9. Garnett SUNDERLAND (c1891-c1897) - never married.

Wilhelmina Dodds Sunderland (nee Byres) died on 7 March 1928 at 206 Murray Road, Preston, Victoria. 7

SUNDERLAND - On the 7th March, at 206 Murray road, Preston, Menie, relict of the late John Sunderland, aged 87 years. 8

SUNDERLAND - Friends of the late Mrs. WILHELMINA D. SUNDERLAND are respectfully invited to follow her remains to the Melbourne General Cemetery, Carlton. The funeral is appointed to leave 206 Murray Road Preston, THIS DAY (Thursday, 8th March) at 2 o'clock.
